West Ham have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Kudus from Ajax in a £38million deal.

Kudus underwent a medical on Saturday August 26, after flying into London on a private jet with West Ham technical director Tim Steidten.

The Hammers have now sealed a deal worth €41.5m plus €3m in add-ons (£35.5m plus £2.5m) for Kudus.

He becomes the club’s fourth summer signing after Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Kudus has signed a five-year deal with West Ham claiming they had ‘fought off intense competition from some of Europe’s leading clubs’ to sign the attacker.

‘I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid,’ Kudus told West Ham’s club website.

‘I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

‘I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here.

‘I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.’

Brighton. Arsenal and Chelsea were among the clubs to have shown an interest in Kudus this summer.

The attacker scored four goals in three matches for Ajax this season before sealing his move to West Ham, including a Europa League hat-trick against Ludogorets Razgrad.

Moyes has praised the West Ham board and Steidten for their work in securing the signing of Kudus.

‘I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Mohammed to West Ham United,’ Moyes said.

‘He’s a terrific young talent, who has already shone at the very highest level for Ajax in the Champions League and made well over 150 senior appearances at the age of 23 – so it was no surprise to see so many top clubs chasing his signature this summer.

‘The fact we’ve been able to attract a player of his undoubted quality to London Stadium shows the pull West Ham have now – the Board and Tim deserve huge credit for getting this one over the line.’
