In a recent prank call, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared candid thoughts on international issues. The 13-minute audio, released by Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, captured a conversation from September where Meloni discussed the conflict in Ukraine and Italy’s challenges with migration.

Regarding the conflict in Ukraine, Meloni acknowledged international fatigue on all sides and emphasized the need to find an acceptable way out without violating international law. She expressed frustration about Italy being burdened as the primary destination for migrants crossing the Mediterranean, criticizing the lack of support from international partners. Meloni criticized the perception that Italy should solve this problem alone, describing it as a “very stupid way of thinking.”

The pranksters praised Meloni for sharing genuine opinions, contrasting her authenticity with other European politicians who often express scripted views.

While the call was intended as a prank, it provided insight into Meloni’s unguarded perspectives on these pressing global issues.
