Ghana Condemns Hamas Attacks on Israel, Advocates for Peaceful Resolution

The Ghanaian government has strongly denounced the recent attacks on Israel by Hamas militants, expressing deep concern over the escalation of violence in the region. The condemnation comes in the wake of the infiltration of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, leading to attacks on innocent Israeli civilians alongside rocket assaults from the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Sunday, Ghana firmly condemned these acts of aggression. The statement emphasised Ghana’s unwavering support for Israel’s right to exist and protect its citizens. Simultaneously, the Ghanaian government urged Hamas leadership to immediately halt the attacks and withdraw its militants from southern Israel.

While affirming its stance, Ghana also called on the Israeli government to respond with restraint, emphasising the importance of de-escalating tensions. The statement also urged both parties involved in the Israel-Palestinian conflict to resume diplomatic dialogue and negotiations, emphasising the critical need for peaceful resolution amidst the ongoing crisis.

This strong stand reflects Ghana’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, advocating for dialogue and understanding as the means to address complex geopolitical challenges.

Additionally, it’s noteworthy that Ghana was among the 128 countries at the UN that voted overwhelmingly against a resolution recognising Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Furthermore, Ghana is one of the 138 member states of the United Nations that recognised the State of Palestine as of July 31, 2019, reflecting the country’s commitment to a just and lasting resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
