Award-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has warmed the hearts of many after he expressed his appreciation to a group of market women in Ghana who danced to his song.

This gesture comes after a video showing traders in Makola market dancing and vibing to his hit song “City Boys” off his latest album, “I Told Them”, went viral on social media.

The video captured the attention of the self-styled ‘Odogwu,’ who evidently loved it and responded with a love emoji in the comment section on TikTok.

In a recent update, Burna Boy has gone the extra mile to convey his gratitude to the women by booking a billboard in the market.

The billboard reads, “Burnaboy loves the market women from the Happy Town Project,” alongside a photo of the women.

The singer posted a video of the billboard on his Instagram page and revealed that the women made his day, prompting his decision to make theirs.

He captioned the clip,

“You all made my day, I hope I made yours ❤️‍🔥 #ITOLDTHEM

The late afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and American rapper Kanye West were cited by Rema as influences.

Rema, in an interview with Hip TV, also mentioned that he draws inspiration from Nigerian Afrobeats Grammy winners Wizkid and Burna Boy.

The 23-year-old award-winning musician claims that Kanye West’s creativity, Wizkid’s lifestyle, and Burna Boy’s life story have influenced him.

He said;

“I’m inspired by Burna [Boy] because of his story. Fela [Kuti] inspires me. Kanye West [inspires me] because of how far he goes in terms of his creativity, production. I really like Wiz [kid] because of how he carries himself.”
