Nigeria and South Africa Strengthen Defence Ties

During an official visit to Pretoria, South Africa, Musa met with General Rudzani Maphwanya, Chief of the SANDF. The meeting, held behind closed doors, was described by Musa as a crucial step in addressing the continent’s diverse challenges. He emphasised the importance of mutual cooperation and reinforced bilateral relations between the two nations.

The Acting Director of Defence Information, Tukur Gusau, shared that the discussions focused on exchanging expertise and forging stronger ties for the betterment of Africa. Musa’s visit underscored the necessity of collaboration between two of Africa’s largest economies and military powers.

As a mark of high regard, Musa was honoured with cannon gun salutes during the visit. General Maphwanya highlighted the significance of the meeting, emphasising its importance in enhancing regional security.

The gathering included SANDF Chiefs of Intelligence, Policy and Plans, International Affairs, and Joint Operations, among other departmental chiefs, signalling a unified effort to strengthen ties and address the security concerns of the African continent.

In this spirit of Pan-Africanism, the meeting between Musa and Maphwanya symbolises a step forward in creating a more secure and prosperous Africa.
