Maj Gen Ahmed’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s military history, breaking gender barriers in a role traditionally dominated by men. She previously made history as the first woman to attain the ranks of brigadier and major general in the Kenyan military.

She furthered her military education at institutions such as the National Defence College and the Defence Staff College, graduating in July 2000. Additionally, she holds a Diploma in Management from Strathmore University College.
