Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak has potentially broken the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, surpassing the previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irishman Alan Fisher. Her marathon lasted for more than 227 hours, a remarkable feat.
Wrapped in the Ghanaian flag, Abdul-Razak completed the cooking marathon with an emotional salute to the crowd in the city of Tamale, describing it as a “national assignment” and an effort for Ghana. Her achievement garnered cheers from spectators.
Abdul-Razak’s team plans to submit evidence of her feat to Guinness World Records for official confirmation. The organisation has already responded to her accomplishment with anticipation, stating, “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!”
Numerous politicians, celebrities, and the Ghanaian military expressed their support for Abdul-Razak throughout the marathon. She aimed not only to break the record but also to set a high bar for future challengers.
Last year, Hilda Baci from Nigeria briefly held the record before being surpassed by Alan Fisher. In December, Ghanaian media personality Afua Asantewaa completed a five-day singing marathon in hopes of earning a Guinness World Record.
Abdul-Razak’s remarkable achievement demonstrates her dedication and resilience, potentially securing her a place in the Guinness World Records for her extraordinary cooking marathon.
