Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has secured another six-year term after winning the 2024 Presidential Elections with 89.6% of valid votes, totalling 39,702,541 votes, announced by the National Elections Authority.
The election saw Hazem Omar securing second place with 4.5% of total valid votes, followed by Farid Zahran at 4% and Abdul-Sanad Yamama at 1.9%.
The voter turnout stood at 66.8%, with 44,777,668 participating. The number of valid votes reached 44,288,361, with 489,307 votes deemed invalid.
The NEA praised the elections as exemplary, showcasing high political and constitutional awareness, witnessing unprecedented voter participation, and maintaining transparency without reported violations.
No appeals were received from candidates or their representatives regarding the election decisions confirmed by the NEA on December 15.
The elections were conducted domestically across numerous polling stations, with initial ballot sorting revealing Al-Sisi’s lead, followed by Zahran and Omar in contention for the second position.
The 2024 elections mark Egypt’s fifth multi-party presidential election and a significant step in its democratic journey, following a year and a half of the National Dialogue involving various political, union, and civil society components.
These elections followed a three-day voting process for Egyptians abroad, concluding in early December.
