The 26th CAHB African Men’s Handball Championship is set to kick off in Cairo, Egypt, from January 17th to 27th, featuring 16 teams vying for the prestigious title. Egypt, the reigning champions of the last two editions, will carry the weight of expectations as the hosts and will also be competing for a coveted ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, representing Africa.
In what promises to be a fiercely competitive tournament, the top five teams in the final standings will also secure a spot at the 2025 IHF Men’s World Championship. Egypt, seeking their ninth title, will aim to close in on Tunisia, the most decorated team in the history of the competition, with 10 titles to their name.
The participating teams have been divided into four groups of four for the preliminary round. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, while the remaining two will compete in the Placement Round.

Egypt, the favorites in Group B, will face Guinea, Cameroon, and Congo, who finished sixth, 12th, and ninth in the previous tournament held in Egypt in 2022.
Group C promises to be well-balanced, featuring a heavyweight clash between Morocco and Algeria, with Gabon and Libya looking to spring surprises.
