AFCON 2025 Final Draw Tonight, 27 January as Morocco Prepares

More than 90 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas are set to tune in for the Final Draw of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025. The highly anticipated event will take place at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday, 27 January 2025, starting at 7:00 p.m. local time (18:00 GMT/20:00 Cairo time).

The draw will be broadcast live on CAF’s official platforms—CAFONLINE.COM and CAFTV (YouTube)—and on global broadcasters, including beIN Sport, Canal+, SABC, Azam Media, and AfroSport. Free-to-Air platforms in 46 African nations, including all 24 participating countries, will ensure that fans across the continent can join the excitement.

The tournament, scheduled from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, will be hosted across nine stadiums, marking Morocco’s expanded commitment to delivering a world-class football experience.

Morocco’s Zellige-Inspired Logo: A Celebration of Culture and Unity

Ahead of the draw, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the official logo for AFCON 2025, which features the iconic AFCON trophy adorned in zellige, a traditional Moroccan mosaic art form. The logo pays homage to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage and embodies Africa’s unity and creativity.

“Inspired by Moroccan zellige, a timeless mosaic art form, the logo redefines football as a canvas where creativity, precision, and passion collide,” CAF said in a statement. The intricate design merges the geometry of football with zellige patterns, reflecting the precision and movement of the game while honouring Morocco’s craftsmanship.

The unveiling sparked pride across Morocco, with many celebrating the logo as a tribute to the country’s cultural legacy. A video released by CAF showcased Moroccan artisans meticulously crafting the zellige-inspired design, a nod to the country’s skilled craftsmanship.

Social media users praised the logo for blending tradition and modernity. One user commented, “This magnificent logo celebrates Moroccan authenticity and heritage with unique elegance,” while others highlighted Morocco’s efforts to safeguard zellige from cultural appropriation, particularly from Algeria.

In 2022, Morocco patented Fez’s zellige through the World Intellectual Property Organisation as part of its mission to protect its cultural heritage. The craft, which dates back to the 10th century, remains a cornerstone of Moroccan architecture and design.

Morocco’s Commitment to Excellence in Hosting AFCON 2025

Morocco’s preparations for AFCON 2025 reflect its ambition to deliver a tournament that sets new standards. Initially planned for six venues, the event will now be hosted in nine stadiums, including the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, and major facilities in Tangiers, Agadir, Marrakech, and Fez.

This expansion underscores Morocco’s investment in world-class infrastructure and its dedication to enhancing the spectator experience. By increasing the number of venues, Morocco aims to ensure wider accessibility and greater reach for fans across the country.

CAF has expressed full confidence in Morocco’s ability to host a successful tournament. In a statement released on 23 January, CAF praised Morocco’s proven track record in hosting international events, including the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the 2022 Women’s AFCON, and the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

“Morocco is ready to organise an African Cup of Nations that will set new standards for the competition,” CAF said. The organisation highlighted Morocco’s passionate fanbase, top-tier facilities, and expertise in managing large sporting events.
